Require some heavy digging but lack the space or access for a large digger?

My mini garden digger and driver hire service is perfect for you!

Looking for a mini garden digger and driver hire service in Cambridgeshire, Hertfordshire, or Bedfordshire?

Then you’ve come to the right place!

Hi, I’m Rob and welcome to my mini garden digger and driver hire website

At just 70cm wide, my mini garden digger is small enough to fit through most garden gates and side entrances and able to get to the tight spaces traditional big diggers can’t get to.

I’ve even driven it (very carefully) through a house for one customer whose garden backed onto a railway line!

Who this mini garden digger and driver hire service is for

Hand digging is back-breaking – especially for people who aren’t used to it – so my mini garden digger and driver hire service is for anyone who needs some heavy digging in their front or rear gardens (or any other land/property you have) and wants to save themselves the substantial amount wasted time and effort it would take to do it by hand.

I also work closely with builders and other landscapers who need ground dug out but don’t own their own mini garden digger or don’t have the experience required to make good use of a self-drive mini garden digger hire service.

Where do I offer this mini garden digger and driver hire service?

I’m based in Little Paxton, St Neots, and cover all of Hertfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire, and surrounding areas. So if you’re in need of some heavy digging, please contact me!

What services do I offer with my mini garden digger and driver hire?

What my mini garden digger lacks in size in more than makes up for in agility and accuracy, making it perfect for all the front and rear garden jobs that need doing, even if the space is very limited!

Some of the most common jobs people ask me to do are listed below – but in short, if it needs digging, my mini garden digger and driver hire service can probably do it!

N

General scrub clearance

Is your garden completely overrun with general scrub that needs removing? My mini garden digger will make short work of it!

Tree stump removal

Don't stop at just cutting trees down - my mini digger is able to dig out the stump and roots, too!

N

Digging out for driveways

Having a new driveway put in, or doing it yourself? My mini digger and I will quickly and efficiently dig out and level out the ground, ready for your new driveway

Foundation Excavation

Excavation for foundations for house extensions, conservatory bases, summerhouses, greenhouses, log cabins, and sheds etc.

N

Preparations for turf and levels reduced

Laying a new lawn and need the old lawn taken up and/or the garden levelled out beforehand? My mini garden digger and I can strip the old lawn off and turn, turn over the ground, and level it out, ready for the new turf to be quickly rolled out! (FYI - I can also collect and lay the new lawn for you!)

Trenching for cables

Perfect for digging deep and neat trenches for electricity cables or water, gas, or oil pipes

N

Digging up concrete paths, shed bases, etc.

Armed with my mini garden digger and a heavy-duty concrete breaker, we can blast through any concrete paths or shed bases and either take it away myself or arrange for it to be taken away by a grab lorry/skip if there's a lot of it!

N

Soil sieving

If you start digging into your garden, quite often you'll find plenty of rubble and roots in the ground, which isn't great for lawns and planting. Using a giant sieve I can quickly sieve bucketfuls of soil at a time, quickly separating out the rubble and roots, leaving you with lovely soil for turfing or planting.

N

Digging out ponds and sunken trampolines

Need a pond digging out, or have a trampoline you'd like to sink into the ground so it's safer to use? My mini garden digger makes easy work of both!

Far more efficient than hand digging

Why waste your precious free time with back-breaking hand digging when we could achieve so much more in far less time with my mini digger and driver hire service?

9

More cost-effective than hiring labourers

You could hire a team of labourers to come in and do the digging for a few days… or you could use my mini garden digger and driver hire service and achieve a whole lot more in one day than a team of labourers could in several!

No rear garden access? No problem!

The majority of garden gates, side entrances, etc. are well over the 70cm clearance needed for my mini garden digger. But if you have a particularly narrow gate or no rear garden access at all, we can still possibly get the mini digger in by taking down fence panels – or even through your house!

Garden landscaping for over 35 years

Hi, I’m Rob! I’ve been providing garden landscaping services since 1984 as Robert Hughes Garden Landscaping and Construction, and my trusty mini garden digger has saved me countless weeks of back-breaking hand digging in that time.

In recent years I’ve been offering this mini garden digger and driver hire service for builders, other landscapers, and anyone who wants to transform their garden themselves without the heavy lifting.

Some of my happy customers

Through my main business, Robert Hughes Garden Landscaping and Construction, I’ve been offering all aspects of hard and soft garden landscaping since 1984.

I offer this mini garden digger and driver hire service as an additional service for customers who want to do the landscaping themselves but can’t or don’t want to do the heavy digging.

Reliable, competitively priced, and a good job done – highly recommend

Bill

Rob helped us to landscape our new garden by moving earth with his mini digger. He is hardworking and very passionate about his craft. He has a wealth of knowledge to share. We wouldn’t hesitate in recommending him. We will definitely be enlisting his services again as our garden evolves!

Stephen and Jacqueline

The job is done and it has saved me probably weeks! Will be using your services again soon, no question of it!

FAQs about mini garden digger and driver hire services

N

How expensive is it?

The price depends on how much work needs doing, but most jobs only take a day and you’ll be amazed how much we can get done in that time! People are always blown away by how effective it is, completely transforming their gardens in a matter of hours.

N

Is hand digging cheaper?

Getting a mini garden digger and driver to do the work is much faster and much more cost-effective than getting labourers in to hand dig it, and much, much easier and faster than doing it yourself!

N

Will you damage my lawn?!

In a word – nope! Quite often the jobs people need doing require driving the mini garden digger over their lovely lawns – so I always bring a few really thick wood boards with me and I drive the digger over those, protecting your lawn.

N

How big is the mini garden digger?

The body of the mini garden digger is just 70cm wide, easily passing through the majority of garden gates that are usually around 80cm wide or more. The tracks can be extended outwards to make it more stable, too – very cool stuff!

N

Can I hire the mini digger and drive it myself?

I’ve been driving mini garden diggers for years and while the controls are simple enough, it takes a long time to become accurate and efficient with them. I can tell you with complete honesty that hiring a mini digger AND driver will not only be more cost-effective, but you’ll get a better, neater result.

N

Will you make a mess?

You’d be surprised at how neat and tidy the mini digger can be. I have a range of bucket scoops for different types of jobs – e.g. a narrow bucket for digging pipe trenches, a wide toothless bucket for stripping turf, etc. – and these ensure I can be very accurate and tidy with the work. Check out my portfolio to see the mini digger in action!

N

Can you give us landscaping advice?

Lots of my customers hire me to do the heavy digging so they can then DIY the landscaping element – and I’m more than happy to give advice for that. My main business is garden landscaping and has been for over 35 years so I know a thing or two about it wink

N

Can you really dig out big tree stumps?

I certainly can! Armed with a narrow, toothed bucket for digging around the tree stump, some heavy chopping hand tools, and a chainsaw, I can successfully dig out pretty much any tree stump!

N

Where does all the waste/soil/rubble etc. go?

A lot of what we dig out can usually be lost in the garden itself (e.g. put into bedding for planting), but if there’s no space for it or if it’s rubbish (e.g. rubble, concrete, roots, etc.) then I can arrange for a skip or a grab lorry to take it all away!

N

Can you provide a labourer, too?
