Bamboo removal

Bamboo removal with my mini digger and driver hire service

Is bamboo taking over your garden, spreading relentlessly and suffocating your plants? Bamboo may look attractive at first, but its aggressive growth can quickly turn into a nightmare. My specialised bamboo removal service offers a comprehensive solution to rid your garden of bamboo for good.

Why bamboo removal matters

Bamboo’s rapid growth and deep-rooted rhizomes make it one of the most challenging plants to remove. If left unchecked, it can invade not just your garden, but neighbouring properties as well, causing structural damage to foundations, fences, and walls. DIY removal often results in regrowth, as even a small piece of root left in the soil can sprout new shoots.

With my professional bamboo removal service, you can rest assured that your bamboo problem will be fully eradicated. I don’t just remove the visible shoots; I dig deep and filter the soil to to eliminate the entire rhizome root system – the root network that grows off of the main bamboo root and typically spreads just under the surface of your lawn – preventing future regrowth and saving you from ongoing maintenance headaches.

Eco-friendly bamboo removal with a mini digger and driver hire service

Capable of easily going through a garden gate, garage side door, or even a house, my mini digger can easily get into your back garden and make light work of digging out your bamboo and other invasive plant species. I can also supply and/or drive a mini dumper – or labourers with wheelbarrows – to move the spoil to the front garden and arrange for cost-effective removal by a grab lorry or skip.

Why just pulling out the core bamboo root isn’t enough

You might think removing bamboo is as simple as pulling out the main bamboo root. Unfortunately, it’s one of the most resilient plant species out there and its rhizome root network can extend outwards for several metres. If you leave any of this in the ground, then you risk it coming back again, and in random places around your garden. This video shows me digging out rhizomes that have spread over 16 feet from the bamboo shoots!

The bamboo removal process

Digging out the main bamboo shoots and roots

The first step is to tackle the main bamboo shoots and roots. I use my “ripper tooth” bucket to break up the root and then scoop it out, ready to go into a skip or into a pile for a grab lorry to collect.

Scraping turf to expose the rhizome root network

Depending on how established the bamboo is, to prevent future re-growth, it may be necessary to scrape back the surrounding turf to expose and dig out the rhizome root network. The roots usually grow just under your lawn, but can spread for several metres.

Filtering the soil for all remaining rhizome roots

I can then dig the soil over and “sieve it” using my riddle and rake bucket. This helps to ensure all the roots are removed.

Raking the soil ready for new turf

If the turf has to be dug up for the job, then I can help prepare the ground for new turf by raking and then fine raking the soil.
